Equity Trust Company evolved from a predecessor brokerage firm, which started in 1974, to a financial services company today serving approximately 238,000 accounts, representing nearly $39 billion in assets under custody and administration.

Equity Advisor Solutions is an affiliate of Equity Trust and part of the Equity Family. Equity Trust Company was formed in 2003 and acquired assets and business from Sterling Trust and Trust Administration Services in 2009 and 2010. The company continued to expand with further acquisitions of Principal Trust of Delaware in 2014 and American Pension Services in 2015. Equity Trust services 238,000 accounts in all 50 states with nearly $39 billion in assets under custody (as of July 2022) and offices in Ohio, Colorado, and South Dakota.
As an independent trust company, Equity Trust offers a truly “open architect” approach to investment choices. We do not offer, solicit, or endorse any investment products or strategies and we do not offer investment advice or any proprietary investment products. We only process transactions at the instruction of our clients or their designated financial advisors.
Operating as a trust company under authority granted by the State of South Dakota, Equity Trust is a state regulated financial institution. South Dakota law mandates regular examinations of trust companies performed by state examiners. Equity Trust meets all state trust company capital requirements and is required to comply with all applicable state statutes and regulations mandated by the South Dakota Division of Banking. Equity Trust’s broker-dealer affiliate, ETC Brokerage Services is a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Client-directed brokerage transactions that are affected through the trust company’s broker-dealer affiliate are unsolicited.
